I have a question that might relate to previous posts. Are they actually increasing the dose until they detect toxicity? That seems to have been suggested by a few on here and i find that curious. Im no expert on medical trials but i would think deliberately trying to trigger toxicity would not be good?
My though would be that during animal testing they would have got an idea of what level dose produces toxicity. Assuming the therapeutic level is known and is well below these toxic levels the plan would be to just "prove the therapeutic window" and confirm a theoretical highest dose doesnt actually cause any toxicity?
If they are actually trying to find the highest dose before toxicity and especially if this is explained to trial participants then that might make it harder to recruit. Either way one would think risk increases as dose increases. Still a long road ahead i guess.
