Not getting caught up in the ionic play. A genuine buzz word companies are using to great effect. Not many, if any, successful ionic deposits in Australia that are in production at present.
My gut feel is that these are forms of saprolytic clay which is different and unique compared to hard rock and ionic deposits.
It is fairly common across many WA projects and will need a newly discovered form of technology to economically extract these. Hence why many of these companies are now waiting at the metallurgy stage for some time now.
Take your points on the Scandium however. Very lucrative and expensive, so could be a huge play with right metallurgy.
Expect some more pleasing grades and potential resource sizes......but extraction still the clincher for me and market if basing this of REE.
