It’s not surprising that DLE on brine is in the lower 25% of costs, in small samples, when Chinese scientists have found that DLE on seawater costs nothing, in small samples, when considering byproducts also extracted with lithium. Can we assume that clay mining is in the top 25%? Big Sandy might already be economically obsolete. Lithium Americas at Thacker Pass has not seen an increase in share price, even after BLM wins in court and a GM offtake agreement.

The biggest problem facing Arizona is water. The solution proposed by many is desalination, from the nearby Sea of Cortes. One byproduct would be lithium. This may be a decade away, but so is any potential profit from Big Sandy.
