If you buy AFI when its trading at a reasonable discount to its NTA then you're more likely to beat the index. But when its trading at a premium then you're better of buying an ETF like VAS instead. Whether its worth selling out of AFI when its at a good premium and immediately replacing it with an ETF will depend on your capital gain on the sale and CGT.
