Hey Flammo,Geeris and All....
I know using cryogenics sound a bit odd seeing they are developing a room temperature Quantum chip but it has to do with performing the measurements
on the readout and control mechanisms.
Please read Quarterly report from Q1 FY24 ... I have attached the paragraph below.
Company is still well and truly focused on Room Temperature operation - but it's something to do with performing the measurements with the qubit control operations and can only be done in a cryogenic environment. I know Mo covered this some time back also.
Great announcement by the way by the company. Progress is being made and great to see a timeline! I take this as the team being highly confident now they have overcome some hurdles.
We have been working on each piece of the puzzle separately - so it's great to hear that in first half of 2026 and really ..( it's not that far away )... they will bring all these piece together and build the prototype we have all been waiting for. No guarantees but from where I sit they have made incredible progress for a company this size. Would love to see Simon do a interview or presentation better explaining to us the progress to date and the importance of the cryogenic measurements in the readout and control mechanisms.
Many think they can't do it ... but what if they can?? How important would this be to the big tech side of town? I do hope our Government pays attention ... or it will be the usual .. all talk and no action and another Aussie company lost to overseas interests and Australia loses out once again.
Anyway .. link to Quarterly report below.
Cheers

Advanced quantum measurements, equipment, facilities, and infrastructure
Archer continues to address the sector scarcity of available and accessible world-class facilities
to perform the sophisticated quantum measurements required for 12CQ chip development.
Archer has now secured access to a local state-of-the-art cryogenic quantum device
measurement laboratory and commenced technical programs of low-temperature (cryogenic)
characterisation of QEDs. While the Company’s technology remains focused on quantum
devices that can operate at room-temperature, the cryogenic measurements are necessary to
advance development of qubit readout and control mechanisms in Archer’s chip-based quantum
logic devices.
