    Hey @Tonza, you are correct that cryo temps are still needed for control. Controlling the direction of the spin of an electron. Because only at those temps can they control one spin without disturbing the environment around it and other qubits. If the 12CQ is to house more than 1 qubit and enable entanglement, it needs a very stable environment that can only be achieved by cooling to temps where there is close to zero possibility of any thermal energy disturbing and causing decoherence. How they can achieve this at room temperature remains to be seen.

    The carbon films exhibit an ability to maintain coherence at room temp for any spin they happen to be in for close to a microsecond (8th January 2025 announcement) . So for sensing, it just registers a spin from the environment and that gets read out. But if they have to program the spin to a specific spin angle, they need the cryo set up to do it. That seems to be where it stands for now. Even with this cryo capability, it is a massive achievement. No reason why it can't be tested out in 2026.
