That would be ground breaking for 3DP but I am not sure how likely that is. NEA has been working on a solution to 3D for a decent amount of time. NEA has always know intimately of 3DPs capabilities through Rob and yet they proceeded without integrating from day 1. Personally, I think had they wished to integrate 3DP into their tech, they would have done it from day 1.

However, while they operate in the same space, I dont think they service the same customers. NEA is a broad-brush, we capture as much as we can and sell this to as many people as we can. 3DP is very much more focused on, you capture and give us your data and we will manage it to make your life easy. I've been mulling over it today and these are my thoughts so far.

Is it possible that NEA's latest product could remove the need for some of 3DPs customers to utilise their service? Sure, to an extent.
Does this make 3DPs service obsolete? Not at all.
Why?
- Big enterprise customers are they're still going to want to capture and manage their own data when they want it done - not when NEA decides.
- NEA has a limited scope as to where and what they capture. They do a lot of work in main cities and the surrounding areas. A lot of 3DPs customers have assets in the middle of no where, unlikely to be captured by NEA.
- NEA doesnt capture and display (from what I understand) point data which 3DP specialises in. This means a lot of industries will likely still need a 3DP solution.

Does NEA's move eat up a lot of the retail and smaller end of the market? Maybe.
Was 3DPs solution ever really going to flourish there? I dont think so.
Does 3DP still have a massive market in providing a solution to managing point clouds and 3D data? I certainly believe so.
