    dtpower and niloony

Who in their right mind would finance this tower costing $750 -$800 mill plus when the only solar tower to my knowledge that worked for a while was the much smaller one in Spain

    Let put this in perspective
People and banks happily invest billions in mining projects based on projected costs and revenues
e.g often costs go higher, grades are lower and who knows what demand and price will be for the end product

In contrast we have a largish prototype
    - fairly basic physics
    - Well established building tech

BTW niloony your not thinking the tower is 1km diameter ? (just in case because I am trying to fathom why you think it is that hard to build - it's not easy but very doable by the right people)

On top of that electricity demand ain't going away for the foreseeable future - and in any case the PPAs make the demand and price "guaranteed" again a lot better than many mining projects

EVM seems a pretty safe investment to many mining projects IMO

But for many/most investors a fancy mineral that is popular at the moment seems much safer that EVM

For the reasons above I have a different opinion

Not to meantion other big payoffs
    Less dependance on fossil fuels
    Less need for water

These are big payoff for national security in USA

That should be a big plus for the political right in the US
The left should be happy enough with the environmental benefits

So the payoff is not just be to the investors
The US needs to make this happen (or at least give in a good shot) and not to mention the rest of the world given we are more energy and water constrained than ever
