Here a piece of my post dated April 2017 where I try to explain the RST technology to the new AJX investors:


RST was the technology behind AJX from the beginning. Developed jointly by the research division of the US Air Force and US DoD to enhance protection of its personnel against chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear threats (CBRN).

The military is not allowed to commercialize such technologies, so GR and one or two others bought it around 2008/09 (with royalties to the inventor and the US military). RST (or Cleanshell as AJX calls/called the product) is a topical repellency treatment in FR etc. for non-conventional and heat sensitive material or for chem-bio related materials (suits etc.)

RST is a machine and works binding commercially available chemistry through RST cold microwave energy to various surfaces going through this machine (textile, leather, glass, rubber, paints, etc). It’s Nanotechnology!

Although these days we are mainly concentrated to the larger markets with our very own chemistry and so we don’t hear much about RST (Cleanshell), AJX still mentioned it in the latest announcements.

Extract of the “About Alexium” in yesterday’s announcement:

“Alexium also holds patents for a process developed initially by the US DoD which allows for the surface modification and attachment of nano particles or multiple chemical functional groups to surfaces or substrates to provide functions such as FR, water proofing, oil proofing, and anti- microbial treatments.”

IMO the reason why RST was commercially not so successful in the mass market was, that customers have to buy/install this machine for every kind of treatment. So companies had to change production processes and had to build RST machine know-how. Too complex/costly. Companies hate to do this effort.

So it was pioneering that Bob and the whole R&D team developed the basis of the chemistry we use today and so, for the most products we treat today, all the magic happens directly in our own chemistry (Alexiflam and Alexicool) and we don’t need the RST machine to apply it. Once customized to their needs, manufacturers just have to change the chemistry they use and that’s it. No effort, no additional machine space and costs.

I still see huge potential for RST/Cleanshell in the military world. Then as mentioned before there are risks for CBRN attacks. Here the suits etc. treated with this RST nanotechnology can safe lives, as the protection/repel period with this nanotechnology is around 1000 times longer than the “normal” CB-Suits.

An absolutely great technology but IMO not for every day products respectively mass markets. But good to know that we have it and can use it in the future for smaller but very high margin orders.
