There are other barriers too. Infrastructure required to sell the hydrogen. Tesla had to invest in charging stations. Lift and drop options will need some form of 'Swap N Go' model.
Only logical thing to do when barriers to entry like this exist is to avoid them - overcoming them is far more expensive.
