Honestly, I try to understand your issue here, however, I see this Chinese cooperation an a little bit different way.
Yes, vanadium expertise is in SA but Chinese are real processing specialists.They had time to develop their technology since we just delivered the ores during the last decades.Digging is not rocket sience, processing is a different game.
We also shouldn't forget that they produce more than the 50% of the worlds vanadium, but they need more, since they will be net importers soon. The new( more than two years old) regulations in the steel industry and the ban of the lithium batteries regarding the grid scale storage systems they will need enormous amount of vanadium in the future. Check the Vanitech website, vrfb is marching up. I just had a conversation two weeks ago one of the biggest vrfb manufacturer, their last year production was equal to the previous 4years together. China is the No1 on this field there is no any similar volume anywhere in the globe concerning the new deployment of the vrfbs. Biggest grid scale battery, number of the new systems, they know why they need the vanadium.
The offtake is about purely Asia, all of the rest of the world is open, VR8 can have new offtakes from anywhere and hopefully they will bring new clients to the tablevery soon.
I had very interesting conversations with several OEMs from Europe. Vrfb will be one of the biggest winner on the energy storage markets,not just because of the obvious benefits of the technology but mostly because of its maturity. No one will invest billions, financing unproven couple of years old battery technologies. Vrfb has 30years of history, a succesful one,just their time wasn't here.
