Recently I visited a Urologist regarding a kidney and Bladder stone showing up on my Ultrasound (I think it was an ultrasound??).
The diagnosis?
I required an operation because the bladder stone was causing bleeding and hence an increased risk of infection.
So I asked the Urologist: "When can you operate if I am admitted as a public patient?"
"18 months" was his immediate reply, even though I'm supposedly bleeding.
So I then asked him: "I have private health insurance. When can you operate?"
"Tomorrow" was his poker faced reply.
This is the reason why I and about 50% of Australians have private health insurance and I won't cancel it.
Operation was performed at a private hospital (not Ramsay's).
They appeared to be very busy.
