I'm just guessing / hypothesising - but I would suspect he is there to see the initial drilling results firsthand and oversee what additional components & materials (besides the basic results - so photo's, etc) go into the market announcement.
If I am correct, i am not surprised as he has a lot hinging on how well this market announcement is received. The more supporting information that can be incorporated and the stronger the associated story, then the better chance that the announcement will get the traction he is looking for. Anyway, is what I would do if I were in his shoes.
