A share Buyback does not involve shareholders directly.
SWM itself would buy shares on market to cancel out and make less shares available for people to own. Companies usually do that when they believe they have a strong business and cash flow, to reduce manipulation and it also usually puts a floor under the share price itself...
It's a very good way to increase shareholder value.
