interesting thought there bikemad - SBM may have looked at them. I note in the DCN target statement it states the board of DCN has 'in the past few years the Board and management of Dacian has examined a number of potential transactions to leverage and better exploit Dacian's assets'
reading between the lines, they may have had them self up for sale for a while with no potential bidder hence this current bid and the 'absence of a superior proposal'
I do agree there is more than meets the eye when you start digging.
