    Some type of reply to JP, R2R and others. My interpretation is that Cairn is drilling down to the Santonian Unconformity, and calling that TD. The Santonian Uplift rejuvenated terrigenous sedimentation in the coastal basin after a period of erosion of the surface during tectonically quiescent times that saw the deposition of carbonates in shallow seas. The newly deposited fan sediments following uplift are the targets, being of a coarser, clastic nature. Before the erosion to the unconformable surface sedimentation was fine grained, carbonate rich, and so not a good target. The putative source kitchen exemplifies this type of deposition.
    I know that they are approaching 5000m, that they are drilling in ultra-deep water, but even so progress has been slow.
