If for some reason they did sell outright they wouldn't make a lot out of their current investment. If they seek out a JV and develop the heck of this huge 30+ year resource, it's going be a huge payback and their names will be all over the successful project.
But life is always throwing curve balls and sometimes you don't get the result you want. To Dr E's point.
If STM gets sold I'm going to sell and hopefully get my money back or even a small profit. If they can't land a JV partner in a reasonable time (depending upon their cash position) I'll sell and probably take a loss. If STM finds a suitable JV partner, with good terms of arrangement, I might start planning a nice holiday.
Somethings got to give one way or the other because they won't be able fund much more themselves with a share price of $0.007 & over 5 billion of issued shares.
