Yes it seems reckless, but I suspect once you start it’s not easy to pause.
Look at the photos - all the people and heavy machinery they have up there, at remote altitude. Very tricky situation - gotta make the most of it while they have them there. If they demobilise and send people away, the workers may not trust the company enough to return (once bitten, twice shy).
They’ve really been caught out badly by the huge fall in the lithium price - but to be fair so were many others including relative giants like LTR, and many investors too. So whilst I think they were reckless pushing ahead with construction sans funding, they are by no means the only ones caught out like this.
