As I understand it, the reason the numbers might initially look a little high, is that its simply per annum, so... considering that RRL has a decent mine life for its mines (sorry, cannot remember off the top of my head), lets say 7 years. Then the valuation becomes $663 per ounce. Does that help?
As for why RRL has a higher valuation, the 'market' views it as IMHO, being a very safe place to invest in a gold stock with multiple mines, proven track record etc etc.
Happy for others to clarify if I have that right.
