Interesting that Collins St Investors Special situation fund#2 took a 20% interest in Barton Gold Holdings mentioned in this SC interview:
See the Collins St Asset Management Investors Special situation fund #2
preso on the fund, but most importantly their rationale for gold having a resurgence.

(note: not spruiking BGD or Collins st mob, don't hold BGD yet and the fund is now closed to new investors, but their insights and analysis is worth a close look for insight into them taking a position in BGD and their analysis)
Points of interest:
- sets out considerations the fund uses before investing
- tier 1 jurisdictions only, Australia US, Canada and parts of Europe only
- look to sound proven management with significant skin in the game
- assets on the verge of production and have already raised capital to reduce dilution
- smallest MC would be $50-100mil.
- 3 year maturity lead time
- not your usual instos
on macro analysis:
- they were a bit off base with the Russian rouble, but they talk realistically about demand coming from nations that may not be as interested in holding USD
- not that the USD will lose reserve status but it's about relative demand
- the ceiling on interest rate rises because of the unintended consequences on the market is going to play out because reserve banks are limited in their choices so will live with a set rate of inflation, they will instead seek to revise the base 2% rate of tolerance
- drop in supply of gold vs demand = a narrow window of opportunity
- M&A activity is likely into the near and medium future.
- larger cap gold stocks are moving, it's not filtered down yet to small and mid capped gold stocks. Asymmetry is what they are looking for between gold price and the individual gold stock
@eastwest this is why I'd like the stock we both hold to move on the gold tenements and not be overweight just one mineral commodity.
