    is that the article "AGL blasts MCB false claims?" - it is paywalled, so no I haven't read it all.

    All of the answers are provided like a politician would supply them:

    interesting that the AGL rebuttal of the first claim only mentions their investment over the last 20 years (not the last 5)... reality is that investment in future generation assets of AGL have completely stalled since Redman.. and they have removed assets from balance sheet into investment vehicle (PowAr co) which has actually cost shareholders billions due to impairments in PPA values.

    Corporate debt has already been secured, but it is unlikely that they could source funding to specifically build another coal plant.

    In regards to 55% energy supply from coal - they only confirm that PPAs will roll off to zero over 5 years... yet their underwritten development of 3Gw new renewables does not meet the 4.8Gw that they currently (when fully operational) able to supply via Loy Yang and Baywater... add more to cover what Lidell produces... admittedly new AGL may only need to ensure they are meeting the needs of their client base and less about selling into the NEM for revenue
