Cashed-up Australians spent more than $1.2 billion at pubs, restaurants and cafes over the past fortnight.
Spending on food and drinks was 40 per cent higher than in the first two weeks of October – before lockdowns eased in NSW and Victoria – according to spending data from NAB.

Large groups are back, bar sales are up and diners are staying on until last call.
Last weekend, the number of seated diners at Australian hospitality venues was 122 per cent higher than the same period in 2019, according to data from booking platform OpenTable.
