Obviously it needs to be preserved. Correct, but that goes without saying. Not much use if it was emplaced 2km above the current natural surface.
As for the MT, I'm a bit cynical. Maybe someone will find mineralisation associated with an MT anomaly, but it's a bit like economists who have correctly picked 8 out of the last 3 recessions. And as much as I like geochemistry as an exploration tool, you always need to treat isolated data sets with caution. Geochem data is a bit like statistics and as they say about statistsics, "facts are stubborn things, but statistics are pliable". As Bottle has mentioned....it would be better to just see some copper.
