Please fix me, if I am wrong, but what about BHP (s32) , Woolworths (Endeavour) , Wesfarmers (Coles) - as far as I know, they provided existing shareholders with some qty of shares of new companies.
Taking into consideration, that ARN was below IPO price for a few years since IPO, I believe that we are in title for some bonus - like additional shares/ options/ new company shares.
It's a common practice (for example SLZ )
