Great Boulder highlights Polelle’s untested potential

Great Boulder Resources (ASX:GBR) says there is untested potential at the Polelle Gold Project in Western Australia, as surface geochemistry work identifies a number of ‘large, high-tenor’ pathfinder anomalies.

The targets at Polelle display the same geochemical associations as the company’s Mulga Bill and Ironbark projects.

Great Boulder was given a 12-month option at the end of 2023 to explore the Pollele Project — currently held by Castle Minerals (ASX:CDT) — in exchange for $50,000 worth of Great Boulder shares and a commitment to spend a minimum of $250,000 on exploration.

Should the company exercise that option, it can then issue to Castle another $100,000 shares to take a 75% stake in Pollele, as well as the nearby Wanganui Project.

Prior to Great Boulder’s involvement, Castle had collected 3,000 auger and 1,000 soil samples, which in 2021 and 2022 defined a suite of targets suitable for drilling. Great Boulder has subsequently completed a desktop analysis as well as field mapping and rock chip sampling in order to update and rank those targets flagged by Castle.

“Because Polelle has had so little drilling, many of these targets have never been tested. One example is a 4km-long zone with both Ironbark-type and Mulga Bill-type pathfinder elements that runs parallel to the mineralised Albury Heath shear,” Managing Director Andrew Paterson says.

“This coincidence of geochemical anomalism over a structural feeder zone is an exciting target and we’re looking forward to drilling it. We think our experience at Side Well has given us the secret sauce for finding gold around Meekatharra, so it will be exciting to test those theories in a new area.”

The company has also lodged a heritage survey request with traditional land owners to clear access to other priority targets within Polelle.

Great Boulder’s geologists intend to finish field reconnaissance and mapping over the southern part of Polelle, which will assess the suitability of the area for auger sampling.

Upon completing this, the company will extend auger coverage where possible, infilling gaps in coverage, as well as continue field assessment and target generation within the Wanganui Project, which sits 18km west of Polelle.

Great Boulder says aircore drilling is ongoing at Side Well, with the rig currently testing geochemical targets between 2km and 4km north of Ironbark. The rig intends to move south to test the new target recently uncovered in outcrop 400m north-northeast of Saltbush and complete further drilling around the Saltbush prospect.

Great Boulder Resources is a mineral explorer focused on its ‘highly prospective’ gold and base metal projects in Western Australia.
