What they are saying is that they are confident it is ionic on what they have seen to date at surface - doesn't take a geologist much direction to state that. However, because they haven't drilled they don't know what the deposit is like below the surface (i.e what they have not seen). It is not that difficult announcement to comprehend, noting a lot of the personnel involved know the difference between ionic and other types. However, when they drill they can determine whether the whole deposit is ionic or not - if it is not ionic below surface, ie. it becomes mixed to something else, then they will need a different approach to MET testing.
And that is the risk here - uniformity, quantity and amount, mix of REEs etc, and drilling below surface is going to decide that.
