that is not true. The chinese graphite quality is good. Proof ? They are the main suppliers of small graphite in the world. They produce 100% of spherical graphite in the world using their own feedstock + imports. The issue is that due to low transportation costs inside china. Even at 400 us$ per tonne and low grade mines (8% half that of syrah) chinese graphite miners are still able to make a profit. Remember this is a commodity with no supply constraints and hence price is determined by the lowest cost producers (the chinese in this case).
