I understand it is not always the company that is at fault. I have been in and out of Image this past 13 years. I made some money on the early surge into the dollars during the mining boom but this past 5 years have been disappointing. The only winners have been those on the payroll and in receipt of free options and shares. The inflation of the share registry has made this tight little company into a bloated obese miner in a VB singlet and shorts (I have this picture in my mind) with little chance of ever realizing its early potential of becoming a major mineral sands producer like Iluka. Image will have to become a very low cost miner while mineral sands will need to rocket up for a decent return. I envisage that another boom is coming as India gears up to bring its 1.3 billion people into the 21st century. Who knows, Image might slim down and rise to the occasion.
