They have stated previously that they’re still interested in North American assets but I really hope they don’t do anything just yet. We’ve got several pits at Moose River to get permitted and into production, plus we have the Simberi sulfides to focus on.
The market sent a loud and clear message after the Atlantic acquisition that it’s not happy with SBM making expensive, dilutive, cash draining acquisitions. Touquoy has been great but the $/Oz cost has still not been justified IMO. It was necessary but very expensive. If/when we get the other pits online, then perhaps then would be a good time to go shopping.
