As a flight instructor commercial airplanes are inspected every 100 hours, plus at yearly annual, and at scheduled major overhauls. Each inspection given whether or not it needs it. Imagine mining equipment takes serious abuse. It only makes sense to maintain equipment and adding improvements in the process is a bonus not a handicap.
