Personally I think they need to be privatised so they can restructure the balance sheet and fix the business outside of the public markets. I know the former Chairman who is an ex-PE executive and I have no idea why they floated the business rather than look for private investment.
There will be at least a few hundred thousand worth of listing and listing-related costs that could be saved from privatising the business and it can all be done without the scrutiny of external shareholders.
The problem is that it is so expensive/difficult to privatise a company such that the disincentives are just too great (even assuming that there is a business case for doing so).
