It means that from today, if you buy the stock you do not get the already announced 2 cent dividend. The 2 cent dividend goes to the person you bought the stock from. There is a tendency for people to sell on or just after the "ex" date. This often pushes the price down temporarily by more than the value of the dividend. It's mathematically silly but often happens.
I'll be interested to see what happens on the 13th, eh Rocket, when the SMSF bleaters on another IO stock have pocketed their 2 cents.
