I wonder if you have the same problem with gold production - for every tonne (1,000kg) of goldbearing ore fed into the processing plant at say 3 gm/t the amount of waste is 999.997 kg. Processing of any ore or concentrate that has a low percent of final product will necessarily produce a high proportion of waste, irrespective of the process. It is not possible to reduce the waste below 94% of input mass if the final product is only 6% of the concentrate.
