Interesting stuff Rick,
The functionalised material having surface area of 194m2 per gram is exceptional. On a 194m2/g surface area I would have expected a greater adsorption capacity than 9.13 mg/g. Using it at 4g/L in a large tank would require a lot of functionalised Magnesium Silicate.

I take it that the opportunity here is for a new use of Mg in the extraction of Lanthinum from ores. While Lanthinum(La) is a critical metal not sure what method they use at the moment. If the process does absorb heat(endothermic) then that's a good thing as most extractive reactions are exothermic.

Where did you get that text from? Reads like the abstract of a resrach papaer - do you have a copy?
