Redpath are underground mining contractors, from canada originally, I think.
The other guys are good solid earthmovers, the issue here is that this railway contract is a big job and also specialised in that there needs to be accurate levelling and dimensions. Also some bridgework and road diversion work. I would think that whoever does the tender process, adjudication and procurement will want to be sure that the next guy they choose will not go down the road of PK, who were a fairly solid civil company. Their real problems started with a contract that went Force majeur in the Congo.
Even if the original tenderes are reinvited there is a lot of QS work needed to calculate what PK have done and what is left to do, not exactly a mornings work.
