It's just brokers matching the market, ie; you order 5000 shares, someone is selling 4997, you have 3 shares leftover, they finish out your order under your commission.
It may take several sell orders to match up to your buy or vice versa, some people trade on $ amount selling and some choose share amount, all sorts of sized orders contently being matched, it is quite literally a market, or more precisely The Share Market
