I haven't researched the finer points of the acquisition so not sure how cheap/expensive it is if only considering it as a regular share-purchase investment. However, paying 15x current earnings to bolt on something like this that would take many many years to build, and likely cost way more than this takeover outlay along the way, it seems like a good strategic move. You need to remember that this industry is booming, and if you're not aggressive with your strategy then you are most likely going to get left behind.
My view is that part of investing in a company like ALL is that you need to trust management and actually be excited about news like this. If you don't, then maybe you shouldn't hold their shares.
