The way to do it is easy: Present the deal first, then consolidate.
If he had announced: "We got a deal with pharma A with some post deal conditions attached, one of them is a consolidation... " I strongly believe the market would have reacted differently.
"Give me unlimited power, I'll tell you later what I am going to do! " has backfired a year ago and will backfire again.
Same people, same mistakes repeated, same terrible results.
