If the in house corporate team has been strengthened, that would mean the external houses have been weakened and will get less of the cut.
Could be a rather large bonus for shareholders if rather than paying out a fat fee (5%-10% in the event of a TO), they are paying out these options instead...sub 1% of current SOI. Close to 0.5%
All conjecture but would make sense.
