The CPI and the PPI this week helped a lot, it feels like we have finally made a positive turn. The 2nd half of the year is always the best half for automotive (70% of all sales happen in the 2nd half). I am pretty upbeat about the market in general.

Here are a few other things that I use to gauge the economy, very unscientific but tell me if these are the same in your area.

I am in Wisconsin.

1. Lines and waiting for a seat at restaurants.
2. Friends / Family traveling
3. Real estate in my neighborhood is still turning in 30 to 40 days on market and prices are still up.
4. Home improvements in my area, patios, decks, basement remodels, kitchen and so on seem to have long waits.
5. air lines are full and not with business travelers.
6. McDonalds offering $16 to $22 per hour and can't find people.
7. Help wanted signs in most retail outlets.

I don't see people cutting back or in fear of losing their job, IMO our economy is strong.
