Looks exactly like you say, reverse takeover in disguise. No harm in it, a dedicated family law roll-up was too niche. I think everyone is suspicious of publicly listed law firms. The Slater & Gordon incident made people question where the value is stored in law firms. It can't be purely WIP when that is too easy to manipulate.
