Well, the split doesn't make a difference to the market cap, it solely increases the number of shares on issue. Psychologically, investors may perceive the shares as cheaper (but not really, they are merely buying more shares), but also it may increase liquidity given more shares on issue. Overall, seems a good move by Santana, I don't think there is much of a play involved but sometimes you do see a little boost in share price post split personally I would more be looking at other price sensitive announcements and the price of gold to move the price.
