Europa, aka Germany, is relying on Russia (and for this purpose we can include Ukraine) as their primary energy strategy.

They cannot afford to have any disruptions, which is why there was so much European support for interaction with Libya.

They are probably too reliant on Russia for oil and gas, but this suits both parties.

There are a lot of politics going on at the moment, but I really don't see any threat for Ukraine. The only possibility is corruption, but I believe that if it becomes a nuisance, there will be significant political pressure to fix it quickly as Ukraine needs to be on good terms with both EU and Russia.
