Actually, your point is not all that relevant. If the price was the only issue then no-one would ever make money as they would always think that everything is appropriately priced.
You see, most companies get 90% of their stock trading platform from 10% of the shareholders. This fact means that long term holders are at the mercy of short term holders when it comes to the share price of a company because although long term holders are comfortable holding, it doesn't mean that they have unlimited funds to continuously buy on market, so you see, the Asymmetry you speak of is fictional and maybe what they teach kids in text books.
The reality is that most traders don't do their research and on occasion are motivated to make investment decision based on what someone told them or what someone posted on Hotcopper etc.
Price disparity is what motivates the intelligent investor, they look for underpriced and oversold stocks and block out the noise and riddles
