That is really true in regards to EMR - Electronic Medical Records. The best thing since sliced bread, but the issue is access. Unless that system is all linked up across different health services, private labs, public hospitals GPs etc, you still need to do things the old-fashioned way & get results faxed or emailed through & that can be difficult & time consuming, but a lot of Drs have access to private lab results online now as well. It’s all good if results and trends are available to you, but it can be a bit tricky if patients are referred to a specialist hospital out of area & usually this comes with the latest blood results, but if you want to look at trends over time, this can get a bit difficult, especially if they had gone to multiple GPs or moved areas or States, then that information gets a bit harder even to chase & dependent on patient memory as well. A simple predictive blood test is helpful.

Not sure how EMR works in other countries, but you would need to have access for the AI component & that does raise issues with access and patient confidentiality as well.

A lot of people have opted out of My Health Record in Australia. You can’t make people share their private health information & therefore this may not be linked & even when you haven’t opted out, this information may not be available when still on paper records or localised private GP EMR. Mine is blank!
