I guess I wasn't as clear as I could have been. I didn't intend to imply a $3/kg hydrogen margin versus oil. The current H2 price is $5/kg and for green H2 to be competitive with fossil fuels it needs to sell into the market for $2 per kg. I see H2 replacing gas mostly, in the pipeline to Perth but also as a fuel in fossil gas peaking plants. I'm sure it will also replace diesel in heavy vehicle transport and perhaps in rail and shipping also but gas replacement is the high volume market. If Twiggy gets his green steel vision up and builds an integrated steel mill at Karratha, then H2 will also replace metallurgical coal as well as an iron reduction agent. More possibilities than I can imagine.
