I have about 600 sq km of iron ore tenement conversions from Reconnaissance Permits to Exploration Permits in Guinea held up with the Ministry shutdown and despite reliable contacts we can't get any meaningful information on the exact reasons for the shutdown nor the time frame except 'shouldn't be long".
All the companies who haven't advised their shareholders are very remiss because its serious -PDI did the right thing. The clock has stopped -
One of the reasons will be the CGT avoidance which the Ministry is pursuing -if the vendors to all these foreign companies didn't pay the CGT on vend deals then the purchaser will be liable or they will forfeit their tenements. There are hundreds of such deals where no CGT has been paid.
Then there are all the transfer of ownership issues -that's a minefield -- And of course Guinea doesn't have any tax treaties with most countries !
