Looks like $20K per patient, per year.
The question of affordability comes up alot. Hopefully the gov comes to the party via medicare. There will be a huge economic benefit to ensuring these people are productive in the workforce, not to mention costs saved by not having to cover ongoing / lifelong treatment which probably ends up being more expensive.
In any case, I don't think we should underestimate how desperate these people are. They are treatment resistent, meaning nothing works for them. Is $20K worth it to feel normal? Especially if it is a one off cost (holy grail) with no ongoing care required.
I doubt someone like Peter Widdows would be interested in heading up a venture that wasn't likely to be successful. Price point / affordability is a very obvious lever in the commerical model and it won't be something they've not considered.
