Ultimately, BTX 1801 may be used for conditions outside of surgery, like for what Bactroban is used for. My kid's have needed Bactroban a few times with little skin infections that got out of control. Not causing antibiotic resistance is a big plus because if it could be used to replace Bactroban, which can cause antibiotic resistance, as can chlorhexidine. This is critical in cases like kidney dialysis, where infection control is ongoing, therefore creating a greater chance of antibiotic resistance occurring.
