AleAnna is technically a rival, in that they will be competing with PVE for exploration licenses and gas customers. And possibly the whole deal is about AleAnna learning from PVE how to actually get projects through to production. But that's the smallest part of PVE's problem: there's plenty of gas in their existing licenses and a surplus of domestic gas supply just isn't happening. So there may be room to collaborate elsewhere, e.g. in lobbying the Italian government to get regulatory procedures speeded up.
